A Film Diary

+ high-res version

Watched: 25 November

Michael Winterbottom obviously thought that a documentary about the band Wolf Alice on tour would make for interesting viewing, but this film seemed fairly dull to me (although I suppose seeing the drudgery of life on the road may appeal to some). The concert footage isn’t shot in a particularly careful or even artful fashion, but naturally seeing young fans along the front row singing along to every word is kinda fun, and I guess the band themselves are OK, if nothing special; fans will presumably enjoy all the footage, though. Worked in among all of this is a fictional romance story involving a photographer and a member of the road crew, which – like the footage of the band – is perfunctory and doesn’t really pull up any trees.
